AthenaAthena was born without a mother. She was born right from Zeus' brain, as an adult and dressed in full armor! Some myths say that Athena's mother was going to be Metis, but as soon as Metis was about to give birth to Athena, Zeus decived his wife and swallowed her; bringing Athena into his own body. After she was born, Hera was very angry that she had no part in the birth, so she gave birth to the monster Typhon. Even though Zeus loved all his children, Athena would have probably been his favorite. Athena was the goddess of wisdom and the patron goddess of Athens. She is often represented with an owl and an olive branch.
